As part of “Agricultural Day” in the Knesset yesterday, Kav LaOved participated in discussions at the Labor and Welfare Commitee with members of the Knesset, farmers and representatives of agricultural unions. Farmers described the difficulties they face due to the lack of Israelis willing to work in agriculture, thus leading to download employment of Thai migrant workers. Despite this clear reliance on migrant workers, the issue of their rights and realities in the field was only brought up when Kav LaOved spoke. Kav LaOved’s presence in such governmental forums is necessary to represent the side of the workers and call for the protection of their rights.
