How many Palestinians work in Israel and in Israeli settlements? How is their employment conducted? How do they arrive work, and in what condition? Do they spend their nights here? How high is the cost of a work permit? What is going on with the promised governmental reform concerning this issue?
These questions, together with many others, will stand at the center of “Kav Laoved – Worker’s Hotline”‘s conference dedicated to the employment model of Palestinians in Israel. During the conference we will launch the publication of our new report – “Occupation of Labor – Palestinian Employment In Israel” – a report that elaborates on the patterns of exploitation, contempt and oppression that characterize the employment of Palestinians in Israel and the settlements.
During the conference we will host two panels which will discuss the different layers of the current employment model – highlighting its economic, social, safety-related and administrative implications. We will bring to the surface the serial neglect that harms the workers, discuss the historical causes that led to the creation of the model, and suggest potential options for substantial change.
We invite researchers, social-change organizations, diplomatic staff, journalists, members of the public service, and of course the workers’ public.
Bound copies of the report will be available for a symbolic price during the evening. Please confirm your attendance to media@kavlaoved.org.il, as seating is limited.
